As you may be aware, a new planning application has been received by the council for the conversion of the G&T Stock Clearance store into a JD Wetherspoon pub in Winton high street. The application is for a change of purpose from retail to "bar/restaurant" and to the make external alterations including a new shop front, louvres and the front area to be used as an outdoor seating area with fixed barriers. We have spoken to the Council's Environmental Health department who had this to say: The planning application amendment for outside drinking has to be considered by the Planning Officer. The Pollution Control team have concerns about the proposal because of the possible disturbance to local residents: they have advised the planner accordingly. It is understood that the Highways Authority and others are also not happy about the application. If, in the event, planning consent is given then the premises licence issued by the Licensing Board will not in itself directly prevent drinking outside. However, if this activity does result in nuisance to residents and there are complaints, the licence can be reviewed by the Board. Such review could result in a licence condition to totally ban outside drinking or to restrict the hours when it can take place.
In 2006, planning permission was granted on appeal after the Council rejected the initial proposal. Should this latest proposal be rejected, JD Wetherspoon would be entitled to use the existing planning permission to convert the premises however this would not include the outside seating area. It is expected that the pub be called The Parkstone & Heatherlands.

Back in December we reported the proposed development of a block of 10 flats at 15 Kilmarnock Road. This was refused and two subsequent applications for the site were made. Despite the most recent, a block of just 6 flats, being accepted, the developers appealed to the Secretary of State for Communities in a last ditch bid to get their monolithic proposal accepted. A full copy of the appeal decision can be found here.

The Best in Dorset Farmers' Market will be returning to Cardigan Road in Winton this Saturday (August 18th). It will be open from 9am until 3pm. February's market was a wonderful event with plenty of locally produced fresh fruit and vegetables, meats, bread and cakes, and even more exotic (yet still locally grown) items like orange trees!

As you may be aware, a new planning application has been received by the council for the development on the site of 92-94 Pine Road. It is proposed to replace the two houses with four small single-bedroom homes, one 2-bedroom flat, and two 2-bedroom bungalows! In addition to the new housing, there will be off-road parking for seven cars. Cycle stores and bin storage will also be provided. This proposed development is in a similar vein to neighbouring Pineside constructed on the site of 90 Pine Road in 1993.

Not one but two applications have recently been received for the development of flats in Denmark Road. The first application is for a two-storey block of 4 flats on the site of 4 Denmark Road - currently a one-storey business unit. The second proposal is for a two-storey block of 8 flats on the site of 7 Denmark Road. Both applications have been made by Crow Developments. Each of the four flats proposed at 4 Denmark Road include one double bedroom. Four of the eight flats at no.7 are destined to have one double bedroom and one single whilst the remaining four each have just one double. The proposal for no.4 makes no provision for off-road parking whilst no.7 includes four parking spaces. Both developments would include cycle stores.
