On Saturday, June 26th, the 2009 Winton Carnival will be taking place between 1pm and 9pm. There will be a mixture of live music, stage shows, a funfair, stalls and plenty of other attractions to keep the whole family entertained. The main procession will make its way through Winton highstreet before the fun and games begin at the Winton Recreation Ground.
The Winton & Wallisdown branch fundraiser will be taking place on Thursday June 25th at 7:30pm at Winton Conservative Club on Winton Highstreet (Wimborne Road). It is a pub quiz and is open to everyone. Local Councillor Paul Hughes will be assuming the role of quiz master in what promises to be a fun evening out.
Entry is £3 a person (to be allocated to a random team) or £10 for a team of four people - no booking necessary, just turn up and play! We hope to see you there.
Congratulations to Wallisdown & Winton West Councillor Nicola Greene who has now been appointed as the "Cabinet Member for Culture & School Development".
Paul Hughes will now be serving on the "Childrens' Services" and "Environment & Economy" panels in addition to continuing his appointment to the "Embassy Youth Club Management Committee". He will also be furthering his work on community arts projects with the "Cabinet Member for Communities" (and Winton resident), Cllr David Smith.
As you may know, the Council has recently released a list of open space/play areas that they are seeking to re-develop, and one of these is Fampoux Gardens at the bottom of Green Road.
As your local representatives we are very concerned over the loss of this valuable green space. We are aware however that the area needs a good clean up and considerable works carried out to the timber and shrubs to restore it to pristine condition.
